Welcome Emanuela Setterberg to Hotel Bel Air!

Hotel Bel Air is iconic for its glamour, charm and exclusivity to Hollywood and the elite. The hotel was originally built in 1922 on 60 acres of gardens by Alphonzo Bell. Since opening in 1946, the facility, located on Stone Canyon Road, has served celebrities, heads of state and dignitaries. Initially built as office space and riding stables, it was purchased in 1946 and converted into a hotel by Texan entrepreneur Joseph Drown. Drown partnered with architect Burton Schutt to develop the hotel as a luxurious getaway for esteemed guests. In 1995, the hotel was purchased by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of the royal family of Brunei, and then in 2008 the Dorchester Collection, owned by the Brunei Investment Agency, acquired the hotel. Dorchester Collection subsequently closed Hotel Bel-Air for two years of major renovations before reopening in October 2011.

In the span of 94 years with its rich history and staple moments Hotel Bel Air has upped the ante, they've brought in a General Manager that is impeccable, force of nature and genuine in her passion to reviving Hotel Bel Air and bringing the community together, meet Emanuela Setterberg! I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Setteberg for coffee, she's riveting, I was so impressed with what she's accomplished in her career. The reality of life is the industry she's in is lead by men, Mrs. Setteberg has not only established herself, she's gained respect from legends (Mr. Ferragamo to name just one), she's also humble. Mrs. Setteberg is also fluent in Italian, Swedish, Spanish and French which comes in handy when dealing with world most influential people.

Emanuela Setteberg history is extensive and to say the very least impressive. An established hotelier who has twenty years of experience working with world renowned, international hospitality brands including Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, she has just accepted her new position as the Hotel Bel-Air’s general manager. The unique Bel-Air Hotel is part of the exceptional Dorchester Collection. Her last role was as the managing director of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, an 800-year-old estate in Montalcino, Italy, that is owned by Massimo Ferragamo. In this role, Setterberg oversaw its twenty-three spacious and luxurious suites and ten villas, as well as two restaurants, two bars, a spa, and a private golf course. Since joining the property’s team in 2009 as MD, Setterberg has helped establish Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco as one of the leading luxury resorts in the world. With Setterberg at the helm, the resort became part of the Andrew Harper collection, the Signature Travel Network, American Express’s Fine Hotels & Resorts program, and a designated Virtuoso property. Additionally, the resort has received many prestigious awards and accolades, including the Robb Report Best of the Best Golf Courses in the World award.

Prior to her tenure with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Setterberg spearheaded the opening of Bulgari Hotels & Resorts with their first property in Milan, where she played an integral role in launching the hotel and establishing it on a regional, domestic and global level. Previously, she handled the opening of the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park, as well as worked extensively with the Ritz-Carlton brand, for which she assisted in the opening of several of its properties.

Born in Milan, Setterberg spent much of her childhood in Italy before moving to Sweden and then Barcelona. Her international travels enabled her to experience a variety of countries and cultures and assist her in mastering five different languages. She attended university in both Switzerland and England, receiving her Bachelor of Business Administration, with honors in International Hospitality and Business Management from LEEDS Metropolitan University.

Welcome to Bel Air, I know great things are in store for Hotel Bel Air with you at the helm. Bravo for being an example to all woman, brains, confidence, beauty and determination are a winning combination.
