ACTRESS HILARY DUFF LIGHTS THE LEGO® CHRISTMAS TREE AT LEGOLAND® CALIFORNIA RESORT!
Award-winning actress and singer Hilary Duff helped Santa pull the switch to light the world’s largest LEGO® Christmas tree at LEGOLAND® California Resort during the 15th annual tree lighting ceremony in Carlsbad, California.
Duff, popularly known as a star on the critically-acclaimed and buzzy TV Land series “Younger,” spent the day enjoying all the attractions at LEGOLAND with her son and family before heading to the giant LEGO® Christmas tree for the evening’s festivities.
“We feel so fortunate to be at LEGOLAND California Resort, “ said Duff. “We spent the whole day with family and close friends and this is definitely one of our favorite places. We had the best stay at LEGOLAND Hotel and now Luca wants to know why his room at home can’t look like the pirate bunk bed room at the hotel!”
At the ceremony, LEGOLAND California Resort donated $10,000 on Duff’s behalf to Baby2Baby, which provides low-income children ages 0-12 years with diapers, clothing and other basic necessities. By distributing to non-profit partner organizations including homeless and domestic violence shelters, Head Start programs, foster care programs and children’s hospitals, Baby2Baby will serve more than 150,000 children in Los Angeles this year and tens of thousands more across the country through the Baby2Baby National Network.
“I feel so fortunate to work with such an amazing group of people who really focus on mothers, children and babies tirelessly to give them the basic necessities that everyone deserves,” said Duff.
Prior to Duff pulling the switch that turned on more than 11,000 LED lights on the 30-foot tall Christmas tree, she was presented with a LEGO castle ornament as an invitation to return in the spring when the new LEGOLAND Castle Hotel is set to open. More than a dozen of the LEGO castle ornaments adorned the enormous tree which features more than 400 other LEGO ornaments and is created from 245,000 green DUPLO® bricks. Fireworks illuminated the sky above Fun Town and snow cascaded onto the crowd below officially kicking off Holidays at LEGOLAND California Resort.
During the holidays, Heartlake City is transformed into a winter wonderland for guests to enjoy. Kids can sing and dance as they watch the LEGO Friends live holiday show and join in building activities in the Heartlake City stables. Occasional snow flurries and a traveling brass band playing festive bluegrass music will fill Heartlake City with the feeling of winter. Guests can also enjoy character meet and greets with LEGO Santa and a LEGO toy soldier and collect holiday inspired pop badges. Then, they can head over to the Fun Town stage to dance and sing along with “The Yule Tides,” Santa’s musical elves who deck all the halls with carols old and new. Plus, families can ring in 2018 with San Diego’s biggest Kids’ New Year’s Eve Party on Dec. 31. All Holidays activities are included with regular Park admission and the winter celebration runs through January 1, 2018.
