Second Act In Theaters December 21, 2018!

In Theaters December 21, 2018

Thank you STX for inviting me to Second Act Press Junket and Pre Screening. What an honor to meet Jennifer Lopez, Leah Remini & Director Peter Segal.

I absolutely love Second Act, my mom always says, “It’s never too late to do anything, the only time it’s too late, is when you're dead.” As a child I never really understood, but now as an adult I completely understand. When we’re kids we’re told choose a major at school, graduate with a degree, work, get married, have kids and live your life in a little box and, that’s your goal. However that’s not how life works out, we're given curveballs and have to roll with the punches. It’s ok if you don’t start your family at 20 something, it’s all right if you’re not married, no problem, if you change careers several times until you find what you’re passionate about, this is what life is about, Second Act.

As a woman it’s hard to forgive ourselves for not reaching our goals by society's standards, we constantly compare. It’s important to know that your life is just that, you’rs. There’s no need to measure your life against another's ruler, your goals, your wants are yours. I was able to ask Leah what word of advice she has for other woman and most importantly what they wanted audience members to walk away learning?

BelAirMommie: I loved how the movie addresses the fact that Maya doesn’t forgive herself for past mistakes and it’s hard for her to move on. I’d like to know, what are a few things you would like your audience to walk away with?

Leah Remini: I would love them to walk away with feeling elated –- to have laughed because that’s important to all of us. Laughter, in general, is so important, then realize that it’s ok to laugh at yourself, or whatever situation you are in, it’s huge. Life can get hard, it’s important to laugh -realize when you laugh in a day --it’s a big thing... Jennifer briefly talked about working with her best friend Leah and how she saw Maya evolve.

Jennifer Lopez: We’d been trying to work together for a long time and this felt heaven sent,” said Lopez. We’re such good friends in real life that we’ve lived those moments where we had to push each other through difficult times. The more it got real the better it was whether we were laughing and acting really stupid like we would normally do or if it got really emotional. Either or was perfect. For Remini, too. “It’s very natural for me to play with Jennifer and do what I do as we are in real life You can’t take chemistry for granted.” This film shows how women support each other through thick and thin,” the actress observed, “Maya is destined to be bigger than her friends. My character Joan is focused on being a mom but wants Maya to get her chance. She believes that out of all of their friends, Maya is the one who will make it. But when Maya starts to lose sight of who she really is, it’s Joan who keeps her grounded.

Thank you STX, Second Act hits the nail on the nose, your life shifts, and you can either fight it or embrace the magic and flourish.

Second Act is a comedy in the vein of Working Girl and Maid In Manhattan. Jennifer Lopez stars as Maya, a 40-year-old woman struggling with frustrations from unfulfilled dreams. Until, that is, she gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as book smarts, and that it is never too late for a Second Act.
