Single Mom Planet Award


Actress/model Shanna Moakler will host the star-studded Single Mom’s Awards at The Peninsula on Friday, May 6. The fund-raising event will be presented by Single Moms Planet, a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization that assists struggling single mothers through a variety of programs and activities.

“I am very pleased to host this amazing event that will raise awareness and funds that will

benefit struggling single mothers in Los Angeles and around the country,” said Moakler. “As a

single mother myself, I am proud to be a part of this event which will support important

programs and services for needy mothers and their children.”

The Single Mom’s Awards will feature a number of celebrities, community, and business leaders and outstanding single mothers who have led excellent lives and provided an example for other single mothers to follow.

“Shanna is tremendous mother, actress and entrepreneur who has been a great supporter of

Single Moms Planet from the beginning,” said Neferteri Plessy, founder of Single Moms Planet. “As host, Shanna brings an amazing energy and positivity as well as a great ability to connect with audiences to share her passion for helping others.”

The Single Mom’s Awards will feature a silent auction and live jazz music, along with a number

of special guests from a variety of fields who have inspired and supported Single Moms Planet since its establishment in 2013.

The Single Mom’s Awards honorees includes actress Mayte Garcia (“Love Don’t Cost a

Thing”), actress Troy Byer (“John Q”), actor Lisa Langlois, (“The L Word”), Autumn Calabrese,

Beachbody Celebrity Trainer; Melissa Kieling, CEO of PackIt; Mrs. Jackie B. Majors, CEO,

Crystal Stairs; Mia Gorman, CEO The Gorman Group; Jillian Darlington, CEO, MomCo. App;

Kristina Brant Jenkins, Author, “This is Autism;” and Wendy Griffin, CEO Wendy Griffin

Jewelry. An accomplished actress and reality star, Moakler most recently starred in VH1’s “Hollywood Exes” as well as the hit MTV reality series Meet the Barkers.” Her other work includes such films as, Big Mommas House, Love Stinks, The Wedding Singer and television series such as The Glades, NCIS, Entourage and many others.

Having begun modeling at age 15, Moakler first came to public attention as the winner of the

Miss New York USA beauty pageant in 1995 before being crowned Miss USA that same year.

Moakler has continued her work with Miss USA by serving as director of the Miss Nevada USA

state pageant. Besides her work in pageants and entertainment, the noted actress is also a successful businesswoman with her popular line of makeup products, Smoak Cosmetics.
