Angry Birds World Premiere

Angry Birds World Premiere was Saturday, May 7th at Regency Village Theater in Westwood, California. Westwood is the Mecca for world premieres but none compare to Angry Birds! Broxton Avenue was shut down and turned into a Angry Birds fun zone for all ages. Sony Pictures goal was to provide a special day to our community, and a sneak-peak at the movies before anyone else. I don't know if this will get in the hands of a Sony Pictures executive but let me tell you, you surpassed your goal! The day was unbelievable, better than a day at Disneyland! Sorry Disney, Sony is giving you a run for your money.

Making our way to the red carpet the energy was electrifying, birds were flying! On one side of the red carpet were a group of kids from Boys & Girls Club and on the other side was wall to wall press. The Boys & Girls Club children were invited for the premiere and to see their faces, lit up with excitement, wearing Angry Birds T-Shirts and playing around, I just knew that this was going to be an amazing day. Sony Studios, bravo, setting aside the rides, slingshot with flying birds, petting zoo, adult size hut and bird cage and everything else, inviting the children from the Boys and Girls Club shows that a mega corporation like yourselves have compassion and heart. Seeing those little faces and having them experience such a grand moment, they will never forget this day, as a mom, I thank you.

The fun was out of control on the red carpet! Now the slingshot, you’d place an angry bird and shoot him in the air, where they’d land nobody knew but we’d scream “in coming”, duck and take cover. To say it was “fun” shooting an Angry Bird in the air would be an understatement. All around you'd see parrots, birds, a baby pig, pigs, chickens, the petting zoo from Reptacular Animals was a great touch. The kids would bond with the animals, so when they're watching the movie they'd associate the pigs and the birds from the petting zoo and relate it to the movie characters. A life size Bird cage was on hand and it was gorgeous, you'd step in and you're surrounded with beautiful birds that you could hold. Step out of the cage and life size Angry Bird characters, Red, Chuck and Bomb were walking around and greeting everyone. Outside was created to be a miniature Angry Bird village with all the amenities, including a hut, once the movie started everything tied in. The games were a blast, ring toss, bean bag throw, jumpy house, corner to corner there was something fun to do. No stone was left unturned, the food was delicious, your choice of Hot Dog on a Stick, vegetable sandwiches, corn dipped in sauce (YUM), pretzels, churros, cupcakes, ice cream, a kids dream come true!

Angry Bird stars were on hand to not only promote their movie but to talk to all of us. The cast was social, approachable and friendly. On hand were Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Keegan-Michael Key, Blake Shelton and more. Blake Shelton's song “Friends” debut was uber cool especially to see Gwen Stefani (yes, she was there with her kids) excited for Blake Shelton. It was nice to see so many faces and most importantly they were all kind. The directors thanked us for previewing the movie, everyone was eager to talk to us, it was delightful. My son however, when taking a picture with John Sudeikis was more interested in his lemonade then chatting with John! Sorry John, I enjoyed our chat.

Now the movie, SEE IT, take your family and friends, you don’t want to miss this. It’s hilarious, warm and touching, I personally wanted to grab Red and hug his anger out. Chuck was relatable, to anyone that feels like they don’t fit in, you know what I say to the Chucks of the world, you don’t need to fit in, you’re unique, special and lovable, be you. Then there’s Bomb with the short fuse, we all know that one person who has a short temper, just remember a little love goes a long ways. It’s the Birds against the Pigs and it’s a race to save the eggs. Sony Pictures official description for Angry Birds, “Flightless birds lead a mostly happy existence, except for Red (Jason Sudeikis), who just can't get past the daily annoyances of life. His temperament leads him to anger management class, where he meets fellow misfits Chuck (Josh Gad) and Bomb. Red becomes even more agitated when his feathered brethren welcome green pigs to their island paradise. As the swine begin to get under his skin, Red joins forces with Chuck and Bomb to investigate the real reason behind their mysterious arrival.”

Sony Pictures, thank you for an incredible day filled with laughter, fun and games with superb company. To the Angry Bird creator, thank you for creating the game, I’ve always loved it, to see the movie was a delightful bonus. To the directors of Angry Birds, Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly, outstanding job on putting together such a wonderful cast and bringing to life Angry Birds. To everyone else not mentioned, thank you, your hard work isn't unseen.

Angry Birds release date is May 20, 2016 coming to a theater near you, pre-purchase your tickets on Fandango, you don't want to miss this movie!
