Beauty and the Beast, How I Love You!
When you receive an invitation from Disney to “Be our guest” for Beauty and The Beast, my reply, it’s “with deepest pride and greatest pleasure” for me to be your guest! Now when I tell you, you HAVE to see Beauty and The Beast, not because of the love Belle (Emma Watson) has for her father (Kevin Klien), or LaFou (Josh Gad) hilariously comical friendship with Gaston (Luke Evans), or the musical numbers that will blow your mind, or the lively animation of the furniture coming to life, NO, none of these, see it because it's’ A Tale As Old As Time. Beauty and The Beast is sewn into the very fabric of our lives, the everlasting impression awakens a childhood spirit within us all and leaves a warmth in our heart.
Beauty and The Beast doesn't stray far from the original scores however you will hear a couple new songs that will want you to start belting out a few numbers yourself. Belles, simple and effortless beauty shines, her sense of self-worth and independence is glorious. As the story goes Belle is taken prisoner by the Beast of her own choosing to set her father free, Despite Belle being scared she makes this courageous decision and somewhere along the line she befriends the Beast and the enchanted pieces in the castle. The delightful and lovable furniture warn Belle, “To not be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within.” The Beast (Dan Stevens) with all his pomp and arrogance is really a kind hearted soul with gentle eyes and wisdom beyond his years, a true Prince.
I’ll make one recommendation, pay close attention to the ornate castle decorations, stunning costumes, the intricate details in EVERYTHING. Visually it’s rich in color, stunning actually, you don’t want to miss a thing. I will see this movie many times over because I know I missed beautiful pieces that were created just for us. From the snow capped hills, lush greenery, old style tavern and mesmerizing castle, you’ll be captivated.
Beauty and The Beast holds a special place in my heart, it was the very first theatrical play I had seen. I was moved to tears, I recall sitting there thinking we should never judge a book by it’s cover and anything you set your mind to you can accomplish. Belle with her fearless attitude and love of learning and confidence was/is admirable. She’s not just a pretty face, she is a role model for all. Beauty and The Beast has rekindled within me that love can exist, it’s in the unlikeliest places, when you least expect it and with whom you've never envisioned. Beauty and The Beast has cracked the exterior of my heart.

Disclaimer/Advice* Moms with younger kids, taking your little ones to Beauty and The Beast? One of the many wonderful things Disney does for all their movies, they always have one of the more intense scenes in their trailer. Show your little one the clip and have the conversation about the Beast, let them know it’s a costume and he’s on stilts. Explain it to them before hand so when you’re watching the movie you’re not being bombarded with a million questions. Enjoy!
