Word Party is a vocabulary building show from The Jim Henson Company that follows four adorable baby animals as they sing, dance and play. The show invites our youngest viewers to help teach the baby animals new words, practice these new words themselves, and celebrate these achievements with a "Word Party!" Word Party is produced using the groundbreaking Henson Digital Puppetry Studio, a proprietary technology from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop that allows puppeteers to perform digitally animated characters in real time - enabling the animation to be more lifelike and spontaneous.

I had a chance to speak to Alex who's also a mom and it was refreshing to talk to someone open and truthful when talking about motherhood. Creator Alex Rockwell designed this show in mind for children to learn how to express themselves and to use their words. I personally love this show, especially for our little late bloomers, they have the voice inside of them but haven't figured out how to express themselves just yet. The characters in the show all have very descriptive facial expressions when they're using their words, this helps kiddos understand what is happening, what is being expressed and how they can use the same words to get across what they need. This helps children process their own feelings into words.

A little bit about Alex Rockwell the Executive Producer, Writer and Creator of children’s entertainment. Her career began working for The Jim Henson as his creative assistant in 1988. In 1992, Rockwell was named Executive Vice President of Creative Affairs for The Jim Henson Company and she oversaw the company’s television, film and home video productions worldwide – developing a variety of projects including primetime series Dinosaurs and Alien’s in the Family, Farscape, Muppet feature films The Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island as well as an array of children’s series such as Pajanimals. From 1998 to 2004, Rockwell worked as a consultant and in-house producer for The Jim Henson Company. In 2004, Rockwell became a free-lance writer/producer.
