Founded in 1907, the Los Angeles Auto Show (LA Auto Show), is one of the most influential and best-attended auto shows globally and spans more than 870,000 square feet. Each November, show creator ANSA Productions gathers the who’s who of the auto industry to unveil the future of mobility in the car culture capital of the world. Delivering worldwide media exposure, global industry networking, and experiential marketing, the Show’s Press and Trade Days draw more than 18,000 auto industry decision makers and influencers including 4,400 media from more than 58 countries. Attending last year, inspired me this year to purchase my OWN car, without anyone's help. I did my research, what each brand had to offer, how to negotiate pricing and I got exactly what I wanted! I’m so proud of myself, thank you, LA Auto Show, for teaching me so much and looking forward to learning more next week.

When purchasing a car we look at aluminum cars because they claim to be lighter but realistically we have to look at the overall picture. Aluminum cars pitch a lower fuel consumption but we overlook the carbon footprint of a vehicle over its entire life. By using alternative materials to cut weight to improve fuel economy, manufacturers end up raising emissions in other places, defeating the purpose of using alternative materials altogether. When buying a new vehicle, you want to cover all of your bases, by choosing something that has low emissions over its entire lifecycle AND better fuel economy. DriveUsingSteel.com is a great resource for all your questions, make sure to check it out!

Because of the of the large differences in material production emissions, building vehicles with alternative materials, such as aluminum, magnesium and carbon fiber reinforced composites, generates 4 to 5 times or more production emissions than steel-intensive vehicles. Steel is 100 percent recyclable and the most recycled material globally, saving vital resources for future generations. Nearly all automotive steel is collected and recycled. Steel’s physical properties allow products to be recycled into any steel product without loss of quality. Competing materials must be recycled to the same grade or a lower-quality product (down-cycling). There are more than 80 million tons of recycled steel available per year for the manufacturing of new steel products. The major advantages include its high corrosion resistance allowing it to be used in rigorous environments. It is resistance to fire and heat allowing it to resist scaling and retain strength at high temperatures.

The use of advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) in the vehicles provides the edge drivers need. AHSS is strong, lightweight and provides the highest value, making it a top choice for consumers, designers and engineers alike. Steel is a very sustainable material option as it emits the fewest greenhouse gas emissions compared to other materials, offers great lightweighting options which increases fuel economy and is the most recyclable material overall."

Hope to see everyone at the show! Remember the show you will have access to all the representatives from each car company, make a list of questions, come prepared, they are all there to help you. You’ll also be able to sit in each car, test drive (bring your CDL) and on average each attendee spends 4 hours at the show, set aside your time so you don’t miss anything.
