SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY AN INTERGALACTIC PRESS JUNKET

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY opens in theatres everywhere on May 25th!

Thank you Disney for inviting me to a galaxy far far away! Our intergalactic press junket was literally out of this world. When we arrived there was a full-scale replica of the Millennium Falcon’s interior, including the ship’s iconic cockpit, the lounge area with the instantly-recognizable Dejarik board, and even Lando’s bar. On the other side of the gigantic press room was a costume display featuring up-close looks at the outfits worn by Han, Lando, Qi’Ra, Val, Beckett, Dryden, and mysterious villain Enfys Nest in the movie. It was a spectacular sight to see, the Millennium Falcon was breathtaking.

Now to the talent on hand which was equally outstanding, Director Ron Howard, Alden Ehrenreich (“Hail, Caesar!,” “Tetro,”) Woody Harrelson (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” “The Messenger,”) Emilia Clarke (“Me Before You,” “Game of Thrones,”) Donald Glover (“Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “The Martian,”) Thandie Newton (“Gringo,” “Crash,”) Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag,” “Killing Eve”) and Paul Bettany (“Captain America: Civil War,” “Master & Commander,”) Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) returns to play Chewbacca.

Looking at our panel of talent, I'm thinking of the mega blocker buster that’s about to happen and our director Ron Howard. Ron Howard is a staple in my childhood years, I use to watch Happy Days reruns all the time and beyond this, just to name a few, he’s created Hollywood most memorable films that will live on on forever, A Beautiful Mind (2001), Apollo 13 (1995), Parenthood (1989), Splash (1984), Backdraft (1991), Far and Away (1992), Ransom (1996) and this is the tip of the iceberg. Seeing him had me wondering does he ever get nervous or worried about a movie project? See what he had to say!

ANTHONY CARBONI: Now, Ron, you have made some huge films; some of the greatest movies of all time. What was it like making a Star Wars movie, though? How was that different?

RON HOWARD: It’s the galaxy far, far away and the level of anticipation is really unlike anything I’ve done. Even some pretty big titles with a lot of interest. And you know, you fall into it and it’s amazing. I began to recognize, it was something similar to the Beatles documentary that I took on. I wanted to have the creative experience and I sort of felt that way about jumping into a Star Wars movie. But I also felt that way about jumping into the Beatles documentary and then I could tell from the moment it was announced, a heavy ringing off, Ron, don’t f*** this up!!!!!

Be still my beating heart! These two, SWOON

Solo: A STAR WARS STORY has a lot of our familiar faces that warmed my heart and a few new ones that will blow you out of this world. Anthony Carboni our emcee had a moment to address this question with Emilia Clarke.

ANTHONY CARBONI: In addition to seeing these classic characters return, there are new members of the crew that are absolutely amazing as well. Emilia, I want to talk a little bit about Qira. She has such an air of mystery around her. It has such a classic sort of femme fatale noir movie feeling whenever you see her in commercials and, and in clips. Tell me, what was it, what was it like, kind of… playing that and what is her relationship with Han and the rest of the gang?

EMILIA CLARKE: Playing mysterious is quite difficult, I’ve got to be honest. And so… it was really fun. It’s really difficult to talk about because she is a pretty mysterious character. You kind of need to keep tabs on her throughout the movie and so I’m promoting a movie that you can’t really speak too much about. She is one of the harder ones to discuss. But, um… we meet her quite early on with Han and then they’re separated for whatever reason and we -- when we find her again, she seems to have lived… a pretty dark life in that time. So when you re-find her, you can’t quite figure out what it is that’s happened to her in the time that you haven’t been with her and who it is that she is now and I think that’s a question that kind of keeps coming up throughout the movie.

Fair warning, when you go to see Han Solo, you will be absolutely be mesmerized with Alden Ehrenreich. He's stunningly good looking and charismatic, in my eyes, he stole the show!

Ron Howard had a lot of kind words to say about the ever good looking Alden Ehrenreich. Ron says of his star, “Alden is thoughtful; he’s an artist and he’s very passionate about his work on a very pure level. He has thrown himself into creating this character not as an imitation of Harrison but understanding the connection between Harrison, the Han Solo character, and his own instincts that can connect him to the character in similar ways.” You are going to LOVE Solo: A STAR WARS STORY!
