ON THE BASIS OF SEX!

We loved "On the Basis of Sex" for so many reasons but one of the main ones, this is a movie for everyone, every age. This is more than just a woman empowerment story, it’s about how we treat one another, how common decency has the capability to bring us together to triumph for the greater good.

When I screened the "On the Basis of Sex" I decided to take my 5-year-old, now we normally sit in the front so that’s exactly what we did, bad move, lol. He was full of questions, we immediately moved to the very back row of the theater and the questions ensued. His top questions, “Why are they talking to her like that.” There were many scenes that showed the injustice and struggle that Ruth Bader Ginsburg came across, the way she was treated, spoken too, and my kiddo picked up on all of it. I tried explaining that in that era, woman were just fixtures, woman spoke when they were spoken to, that some people weren’t seen as equals. That was an era that fought for injustices, look at how far we’ve come and most importantly, no matter your race, gender, religion, ethnicity, we are all one and we all bleed red. The fight continues on today, it's vital that we fight for what we believe in, there's strength in numbers, there's power in unity.

We all have our individual paths that shouldn’t be compared to others because our path is our own. This movie was so much more than just a life story about a woman who paved the way for millions of others to stand up for your beliefs, standing up for what you believe in and most importantly believing in yourself, it’s about being kind and respectful to one another, it’s about having understanding for your fellow human and most importantly accepting everyone for who they are, not what you want and or except them to be.

Thank you Focus Features for inviting me to the press screening and press junket, it was an outstanding experience not only for myself but my little one. "On the Basis of Sex" is out now in select theaters and for one night only, on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, audiences across the U.S. will have the opportunity to see this inspiring film before it opens in theaters nationwide on January 11. Come back then, I’ll have my press junket piece up and you will be blown away! I'll leave you with the pic above as a teaser
