Call Your Mother is funny, sweet and filled with tons of laughter. We were privy to watch the first episode that had me reflecting on my relationship with my mother and my son. “Call Your Mother,” Kyra Sedgwick is Jean Raines, the in your face mom that’s an empty nester and wanting to be involved in her children’s life in every aspect. When she can’t get her son, Freddie ( Joey Bragg ), on the phone for four days she packs her bags and leaves for Los Angeles. This is where our story begins, her adult children have mixed emotions about seeing her in LA, but, she’s here in all her glory!
When Jean (Kyra) arrives in California she settles into a Airbnb cottage rented by a divorced-with-kids Australian therapist, Danny (Patrick Brammal), who owns the the cutest golden retriever, the puppy eyes had me falling in love with our furry friend. From what I gathered Danny is situated to be her love interest which starts up as a friendship.
Tonight, grab a bucket of popcorn, get the family together and watch Call Your Mother! We need a show that will have us laughing at or own family antics because I’m sure we’ll each see somewhat of a resemblance in our own relationships.
As a mom, I promise you this is exactly what I would do for my kiddo, just like my parents still do for my brother and I. As a grown up I look back on all the moments mom and dad popped up when I didn’t even know I needed them and I’m so grateful they had, and, YES, I’m that mom, lol!
This evening, Monday, Jan. 11, ABC celebrated the upcoming series premiere of its newest comedy series “Call Your Mother,” with a virtual premiere event featuring series stars Kyra Sedgwick, Rachel Sennott, Joey Bragg, Emma Caymares, Austin Crute and Patrick Brammall, along with creator and executive producer Kari Lizer.
Moderated by Rachel Lindsay of "Extra," the event featured the world premiere screening of the first episode of “Call Your Mother” followed by a live Q&A with the stars and creator of the series.
“Call Your Mother” follows Jean, an empty-nester mom, who wonders how she ended up alone while her children live their best lives thousands of miles away. She decides her place is with her family, and as she reinserts herself into their lives, her kids realize they might actually need her more than they thought. “Call Your Mother” premieres WEDNESDAY, JAN. 13 (9:30-10:00 p.m. EST), on ABC.
