Pop star sensation, Fancy G, hosts a talent competition to discover the next hot solo artist. Three of the contestants become friends and after a video featuring them performing together in disguise as the Honey Girls goes viral, the journey becomes one of self-discovery – for everyone, including Fancy G.

Honey Girls is a live-action production featuring high-energy music as a central part of the storyline starring Ashanti, Tessa Brooks and introducing Aliyah Mastin, Ava Grace and Frankie McNellis as the Honey Girls.
This is a live-action feature film from Build-A-Bear Entertainment, a subsidiary of Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc., based on their popular intellectual property and top-selling product line.
The Honey Girls, based on the popular intellectual property and highly successful product line, celebrates friendship, “girl power”, and being true to yourself which is reflected in the design and style of the original product line as well as coming to life in the film.
The film is directed by visionary music video director Trey Fanjoy, who is making her feature film directorial debut. Fanjoy has directed over 150 major label music videos. Her videos have appeared on CMT, VH1, GAC, The Nashville Network, CMT Canada, and MTV. She is the first woman to win the Country Music Association Award for Video of the Year and, to date, the only woman to win the award twice and one of two people to win the award three times. She has directed videos for Taylor Swift, Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson and Miranda Lambert.
The screenplay was written by acclaimed writer, producer and director, Mike Mariano with support from Cindy McCreery.
The music will play an important role in driving the storyline and the project has an impressive pedigree of talent overseeing the soundtrack; Grammy Award winner Julia Michaels is on board as Music Supervisor and the film will feature original songs by Grammy Award winner Mark Nilan Jr., a frequent Lady Gaga collaborator. Mark produced and wrote many of the songs on the A Star is Born soundtrack, along with Julia Michaels who served as music supervisor on the film.
Three young musicians participate in a talent competition to discover the next great solo artist, hosted by global pop-star Fancy G (Ashanti). The competitors quickly discover that they are “better together” and form a secret band called HONEY GIRLS that has an immediate viral mega hit! Performing in disguise to avoid detection and elimination by Fancy G, these three competitors must ultimately decide what is more important – fame or friendship.
