This, Friday, March 5, Secrets of Sulphur Springs " No Time Like The Present!"
Disney Channel’s Secrets of Sulphur Springs
“NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT” airs
This week in Secrets of Sulphur Springs, they address blatant racism with a '60s Trip that’s filled with secrets revealed and mysteries uncovered!
Griffin (Preston Oliver) and Harper (Kyliegh Curran) travel back in time to 1962 to find Savannah at the then-bustling Tremont Hotel in New Orleans. It’s the same hotel that Griffin’s family purchased in the present to refurbish and return to its former splendor however they keep running into predicaments that put a pause on everything.
“No Time Like the Present,” there is a moment that occurs and this is the first time the kids have come across racism. This is a very serious subject which I applaud Disney for addressing and not sugar coating it. Tracey Thomson, creator and executive producer explains why this is being addressed.
“Since the beginning, Griffin and Harper have been on the same adventure, sharing the wonder, confusion and excitement of time travel. Sending them to 1962 allowed us to explore the realities of the era through two completely different perspectives. While Griffin is blindsided by the overt discrimination, Harper is bracing for it from the moment they go back in time. This shift in their dynamic carries through to the present.”
Thank you Disney Channel for our Tremont Hotel mugs and yummy hot chocolate from Nassau Candy! We’ll be rewatching Secrets of Sulphur Springs " No Time Like The Present" in style!
